Venturer - Portable CD, Tape & Radio

£19.95

Back in the 90’s, every house had something like this in the kitchen, or the kids room. Times have changed now, and who still plays tapes? Heck, who even has CDs anymore? ( Well, yes, I do. But I’ve been told I’m an exception to the rule…)

.

Young kids would play their Spiderman or He-Man stories on tape, as they read along with the book. The older kids would play the latest NOW album on tape. Mum and dad would want the new Cliff CD playing at Xmas, and Grandad would happily sit and listen to the world service on the radio. This device can do all that. Who knew the joy and closeness one of these could bring to the whole family? Judging by the amount that ended up in landfill, not many it seems.

.

I always smile when I walk into a house and see something like this, that just about everyone had, as now they’re becoming hard to find. I often hear people say they’d love to see what’s on this tape, or that CD - but they have nothing to play it on. Here’s a very cheap solution to that problem.

.

Why have I written so much about this very cheap little plastic thingy? Well, since I opened it, checked the belts and re-greased the CD player, I’ve played a full live CD album (as I don’t have a working CD player in the workshop!), and played an old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tape I found. I also attempted to find something decent on the radio. I’ve not had this much fun for ages, and everyone should have one of these. Who knew, eh? (well, apart from deadAVstore obviously…)

.

This comes complete with power cable, but can also be powered by batteries - so it’s portable for outdoor and indoor use.
