Our owner James began the exciting journey of collecting retro items way back in the vibrant 1970s, and has never once faltered in this fascinating pursuit. Every car boot sale, church hall sale, and yes, even a few skips along the way were regularly frequented, and treasures were carefully squirreled away after being lovingly cleaned and polished. These extraordinary items remained a personal and private collection since way before the days of mobile telephones, DVD players and even the internet!

In the year of 2024, it was finally time to realise the long-held dream of restoring and cataloguing what may very well be the largest collection of rare audio visual treats in all of England, and perhaps even in the entire universe!

The extensive private collection of items, although originally a delightful hobby (or an all-consuming obsession, as some may affectionately say!), gradually grew to an overwhelming size. It certainly didn’t discourage James from creatively seeking out spare corners or discovering that odd, forgotten space tucked away beneath a towering pile of records to fill with even more extraordinary treasures. Now, this collection is bursting at the seams with more items than even the largest tech shops can boast, and James was becoming increasingly fed up with the unusual routine of eating dinner off laserdiscs — which had long since replaced traditional plates in the kitchen to save precious space.
