Lloytron Music Centre - (755?) Circa 1976 - Record, Tape, Tuner

£49.95

Who’s parents (or grandparents) didn’t have something like this? Not many I assume. In the 1970’s, everyone had some sort of music centre which usually consisted of a record player, tape and tuner. Twenty years passes, and they were totally worthless - with the advent of CDs, and the fall in sales for vinyl and tape - these were discarded in huge numbers. Another thirty years passed, and now these retro items are highly sought after, and it does look truly stunning in it’s vintage silver and wooden colours - with a smoked plastic lid.

I’ve powered up the unit, and it plays records fine, at all three speeds. The tape player winds and plays as it should. I even managed to pick up an AM broadcast on the tuner. That said, this would of course benefit from being cleaned, fully tested and checked over, and maybe some new belts to make it future proof. Many of the knobs and buttons crackle, but twisting and tapping them does make the levels change. These switches and pots will therefore need to be given a clean at the very least, or replaced to solve this problem, which should be a fun, quick and easy task for the budding repairer.

It comes with its original instruction manual, and adjustment guide for the record player. There are no speakers with the unit, but these are easily sourced and connected into the phono sockets at the back. If required, I can source something suitable for a small additional amount.
